At Charles Nicholls we strongly advise customers to use luxury shaving soap applied with a premium quality shaving brush. Really, gel and fingers do not do the trick!
When applied with a top quality badger brush the shaving soap, much like shaving cream, will give a rich, lubricating lather that softens and moisturises the skin and will 'lift' the hairs making them easier to cut. This will provide slip and glide to allow the shaving razor a smooth, nick free passage over the contours of the face.
